Privacy Policy

Vealo has no accounts and no telemetry, and it never uploads your files or settings. The app runs locally on your device:

• The network is used only by features you turn on: weather (your city is found from your IP address through third-party services: ipwho.is or geojs.io, then met.no for the forecast), internet radio (the station catalogue radio-browser.info and the stations themselves), the network ping readout in the System widget (ICMP echo to 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8 or your game server), and the Steam Workshop (Steam, plus vealo.app for previews). These services see your IP address. There is no analytics and no crash reporting.
• No accounts. No sign-up or login.
• No administrator rights. Vealo runs as a standard user. The only exception is the optional FPS counter, which asks for administrator approval (UAC) once to install a small helper service.
• Your data stays with you. Settings, the icon cache, and an error log are stored only in %AppData%\Vealo on your PC and can be deleted at any time.

What the app does on your system (only when you choose to)

• Hides desktop icons ("Empty desktop" mode). Fully reversible: icons are restored when you exit the app or turn the mode off.
• A global hotkey and desktop-click detection to summon the panel, via a system mouse hook. Keystrokes and clicks are not logged or transmitted.
• Start with Windows (if enabled) registers a per-user scheduled task (or, as a fallback, the per-user registry Run key). No admin rights needed.
• Theme colours ("Wallpaper" theme, taskbar tint) are computed locally from your screen and settings, and never sent anywhere.

Steam version

If you install Vealo from Steam, the Steam client itself may process your purchase and ownership data under Valve's privacy policy. Vealo asks Steam whether you own the Pro DLC, grants achievements, and works with the Workshop (subscriptions, votes, publishing). Publishing a setup makes it public and shows your Steam name. Your data leaves the PC only if you publish a setup yourself.
