What the calendar widget does
A calendar on the wallpaper shows the date and the shape of the month at a glance, without clicking the taskbar.
- Five views. Line, day, week, month and year: from a single date to the whole year on the desktop.
- Today stands out. The current day is highlighted in the theme colour, so the eye finds it at once.
- Your language. Month names, weekday names and the first day of the week come from the culture you pick, not necessarily from the Windows language.
- In the desktop's style. The same five materials and colours as the other widgets: the calendar looks like part of the design, not a foreign window.
How to add it in Vealo
It turns on with one button, the view is picked with chips.
- Open Studio: the panel hotkey, Ctrl+Shift+F by default, or click an empty spot on the desktop and then the gear.
- The Widgets tab, the Calendar row: pick any view instead of “Off”.
- Pick a view and, if you like, the language of the captions: it sets the month names and the first day of the week.
- Moving: with the mouse while the Widgets tab is open, or Shift plus the right mouse button at any moment, even with the panel closed. The position is remembered.
Views and settings
Five views, each for its own density of information.
- Month: a seven-column grid with today highlighted.
- Week: seven days in a row, compact.
- Day: a big number with the weekday and month underneath.
- Year and line: an overview of all months, or one line with the date.
- Like the other widgets except the clock: five materials (soft, torn, glitch, pixel, wire), colour from the theme or your own with an eyedropper, backdrop and outline, its own size slider. More in the features reference.
- Free: the Month and Line views. The other three are part of Pro.
Tips
- The month lives best in the right column of the desktop, where it has height. The line and the day fit anywhere, even under the clock.
- The pair “clock on the left, calendar on the right” reads as one whole when both share one material and take colour from the theme.
- The “year” view is more of a decoration for a wide monitor: twelve months in a row look like a poster.
All six widgets in one article: Desktop widgets for Windows. Ready desktops with widgets are in the Steam Workshop.
Questions
Can I add events or holidays?
Not yet: the calendar shows dates and highlights today. Notes on days are planned.
The week starts on Sunday, how do I change it?
Pick another culture in the widget settings: the first day of the week comes from it. For most of Europe it is Monday.
Does the calendar sync with Google or Outlook?
No, it is a date widget, not a planner. Events need a separate service.
Can the calendar and the clock sit side by side?
Yes. Every widget is moved independently; usually the calendar goes in the right column and the clock in the left.
What else can Vealo do?
Quite a lot. It hides the desktop icons and opens everything from a panel, sets wallpapers and video wallpapers, adds widgets (clock, weather, calendar, notes, system load, player), desktop effects, lighting in the theme colour, cursors, and ready-made looks from the Steam Workshop. The full list is on the features page.
