The beautiful desktop from a video is usually built from five programs and an hour of tweaking. A setup in Vealo is the whole desktop in one file: wallpaper, widgets, theme, cursor, effects and lighting. See one you like, click Apply, and it is yours.

What a setup is

A setup is a snapshot of your entire desktop look, saved to a single file. Not a picture and not a theme, but everything at once, including where each widget sits.

  • Wallpaper. An image or a video, together with its filter, mirroring and per-monitor settings. Your own image goes right into the file.
  • Theme and taskbar. Panel colors, the Mono or Glass style, light or dark Windows mode.
  • Widgets in their places. Clock, player, visualizer, system load, calendar, weather and notes, with their look, color and size.
  • Cursor, effects, sound and lighting. A cursor shape or pack, particles, parallax, glitch and VHS, ambient sounds and the keyboard lighting effect.
A setup adapts to your screen: the author's resolution is saved, and widgets land in the same places relative to the edges, even on a different monitor.

How to install a ready-made setup from the Workshop

The Steam Workshop is built right into Vealo, so there is nothing extra to download.

  1. Install Vealo from Steam (free), open the panel and go to the Workshop tab.
  2. Filter by mood, color, resolution and type: for example, only live wallpapers or only dark desktops.
  3. Open a card. It shows a preview of the real desktop and a list of what is inside: theme, wallpaper, widgets, cursor, effects, lighting.
  4. Click Subscribe, wait for the download bar and click Apply. Don't like it? Undo brings your old desktop back.

Take just one part

Love the picture but want to keep your own widgets and theme? The card has a separate button for that.

  • Wallpaper only sets the image or video from the setup, and everything else stays yours.
  • If a setup has paid parts (such as cursor packs or VHS) and you have the free version, the setup still applies: the paid parts are simply switched off, and the rest looks exactly like the author's. The card shows in advance which parts of the setup are in Pro.
  • 18+ setups are hidden behind an age check, and their previews stay blurred until you confirm.

Build your own and share it

Saving your own desktop is just as quick: set everything up the way you like and save it as one file.

  1. In the Workshop tab, click Create a setup and give it a name.
  2. Publish it: pick one or two moods and an age rating, and the rest (resolution, color, widgets, paid parts) is tagged automatically.
  3. Or just send the file to a friend: a setup opens without Steam too.
Paths to your files and your user name never go into the file. Only what is visible on the desktop is shared.

FAQ

What is a desktop setup?

A complete desktop look in one file: wallpaper, theme, widgets and their positions, cursor, effects, sounds and lighting. In Vealo a setup is applied with one click and undone with one click.

Where can I download ready-made setups?

In the Steam Workshop inside Vealo. You can also preview them on our site, on the setups page with filters by mood and color.

Are setups free?

Yes. The Workshop and all setups are free. If a setup has Pro parts, they are simply switched off in the free version, and the rest is applied.

Will I lose my settings if I apply someone else's setup?

No. The Undo button brings your previous desktop back, and you can save your own desktop to a profile or your own setup beforehand.

Will a setup fit my monitor?

Widgets land in the same places relative to the screen edges. If the wallpaper in a setup is smaller than your resolution, the card warns you in advance.
